A vintage promotional piece touts Syrup of Figs as a pure liquid laxative with benefits for kidneys liver and bowels. It claims relief from colds headaches fevers and constipation and advertises 5c and 1 bottles sold by druggists and manufactured only by the California Fig Syrup Co.
Tickets sold and baggage cheered through to all eastern points. Travelers insurance tickets also sold.
A prominent lawyer recalls going West for clients but starving led him back East. On a Nashville train he tried to pass as a newspaper staffer. the editor and conductor tested his claim. The ruse collapsed when both pretended to be editors and passed a laugh at their own fear. The note ends with local ads for tonics and farm equipment.

Company D first battalion N N G drills every Tuesday at 7:20 P M with a monthly business meeting on the first Tuesday at 7:50 P M. Target practice set for the first, second and third Saturdays of each month. Officers: Captain N J Anderson and O Gunter.
The St James Lodge No 9 AOUW meets at their hall in the Silver State building on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 7 30 p m journing members on good standing are invited to attend
Winnemucca Lodge No. 19 F and A M announces monthly stated communications at their Silver State hall on the first Saturday evening at 7:90 PM. Master Masons in good standing are invited to attend. J Anderson W M KW Lewis, Secretary.
