Nuts Not Large This Fall Yet Many Trees Planted

The crop of hickory nuts walnuts and butternuts is light this fall but more trees are present than last season. Walnut trees grow rapidly and many are being planted with others maturing each season. Jack Frost will soon arrive and woods will fill with children gathering nuts for winter use.

Paralytic Stroke Causes Death of Local Resident John Vangilder

John Vangilder, 61, suffered a paralysis attack on Saturday September 16 and died Sunday night September 24 at 6 o'clock, remaining unconscious since the attack. He lived at the Alph Price home where he was at work when struck. Funeral held at Center A B Church at 10 a m Wednesday with Rev O B Wells of Rochester officiating and interment in Center cemetery.

John P. Vangilder was born in Wayne County Ohio on December 30 1843 and died September 24 1805 aged 61. He married Armanda Lowman on April 14 181u and they had six children five sons and one daughter. His wife two sons and the daughter preceded him in death leaving three surviving sons James M Clarence G and Clark B plus five grandchildren and one brother.

McClure & Getty shipped 128 hogs in good condition from the McClure place southwest of town. The hogs, fed on corn all summer, were described as in first class condition.

F. M. Jaques drove to Warsaw on business accompanied by his daughter Anna visiting at home. They called on Sheriff Mabie and were shown through the county bastile. Mr Jaques noted the contrast in the situation and commented on it.

Robert Pilkington buys a large stock of merchandise and will move it to Van Buren where he has purchased more goods. A removal sale is in progress at the current store with closing out prices until Tuesday Oct 3. The move ends their stay and hopes for future business relations in town.
