Alex McLaughlin will preach at the Lutheran church next Sunday evening. On request of Silver Lake citizens, his text will be Pay your debts Be honest. The sermon urges preachers and business men to unite in promoting honesty and fair dealing among neighbors. Readers are urged to attend and invite others.
Three month old Wilbur Ray Braodenburg, son of Mr and Mrs Alva Braodenburg living east of town, died last Sunday after several days illness. Funeral held Tuesday.
Mrs Emery Shutt fell down stairs at her home on Monday forenoon. She slipped and landed at the bottom of the stairway, receiving numerous bruises but no bones were broken.
David Rowland will hold a public sale at his Bur- KYL residence on Saturday September 11 starting at 1 o clock. Items include 3 head horses, wagon, three buggies harness household and kitchen furniture canned fruit and game Stone juts. Auctioneer J D Gill will conduct the sale under usual terms with 9 months time and 3 percent discount for cash on time sale.
The Birth Record notes James Aughenbaugh and wife welcomed a baby boy at their home Tuesday. Otha Hope and wife, three miles south of town, also welcomed a baby boy Tuesday.

James Leffel and his wife and young son returned to their Knox home Wednesday after a visit with relatives. Leffel taught in Knox public schools last winter and has been engaged as principal for the coming term. Best wishes for his success.
Mrs S S Robinson has been confined to her room for ten days due to illness. A Fort Wayne nurse has been at her bedside since she has been in critical condition.
The Myers Rhoades and Beigh families held their annual reunion at Wi nona lake last Thursday September 7 drawing about seventy five members from Chicago Southern Michigan and many Indiana towns. Officers elected were A J Briant president Emry Metzger vice president Carrie Rhoades secretary and Mahlon Rhoades treasurer. The next reunion is planned for Elkhart on the third Thursday in August 1812.
John Law rence was using a corn cutter last week when a mis stroke caused a deep gash in his left leg just below the knee.
Clarence Yeouns and Fern Barrett were married in Warsaw on Thursday afternoon last week. Fern Barrett is the daughter of Mr and Mrs William Barrett who live in the north part of town. The ceremony surprised the town, and well wishes are extended to the couple.
A 1911 editorial argues all young men must prove a trained mind through examinations for worthy positions. It warns education without proper application leads to wasted potential and calls for immediate, manly ambition and productive use of knowledge to shape a successful future.
Dr and Mrs N A Cary attended the 13th District Medical Association meeting at Wawasee Lake last Tuesday. A large number of professionals and their families were present and a very pleasant day was enjoyed.
Rev A F Kline requests moving his paper from Thunder City Idaho to Rosebury Idaho due to a conference division of his field and assignment of Rosebury territory. He notes the change is required to reflect the new location for his ministry and publication.
Miss Pearl Utter 22 daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Utter died at Hope hospital Fort Wayne Monday night about an hour after arrival for an operation. Autopsy shows death from an acute yellow atrophy of the liver. The family resided northeast of town.
Allen DeHaven plans a move to Elkhart and will hold a public sale at his residence on Saturday September 23 at 1 30 pm. He will offer household and kitchen furniture two stoves a gasoline stove and other articles with nine months terms. Vocal and instrumental music at Rec ORD office at ten cents per copy.

Minor Hosman aged 65 died at his home six miles west of town from a paralysis stroke after years of poor health. A Sunday School superintendent for 40 years in Akron M E church, he belonged to Lakeview Lodge Knights of Pythias. Funeral Sunday at Akron M E church conducted by Akron minister with large attendance. Members of Silver Lake lodge attended.
T. B. Hathaway and wife attended the Hathaway and Manon families reunion in South Whitley last Sunday. Mr. Hathaway returned home that evening while Mrs. Hathaway stayed for a longer visit.
A preacher named Rev. McLaughlin delivered an excellent sermon at the Lutheran church last Sunday afternoon. He plans to preach again next Sunday on a good subject and urges attendance.
Rev. M. E. Boulton and family from Dallas Oregon spent several days with the Eberts and other relatives in the locality. He is a delegate to the general conference of his church in Pennsylvania and is traveling east. He was born in Silver Lake where the family lived for years.
E. E. Shipley of Lawton Oklahoma circulated among friends here on Monday renewing acquaintances. Shipley serves as cashier of the Lawton National Bank and makes an annual trip to Indiana.
Mrs Walter Homman and her husband traveled to Chicago last Sunday. She was admitted to a hospital where an appendicitis operation was successfully performed and, at the latest report, was rapidly recovering and expected to be home in about two weeks.
