Next Monday the Central Drug Store will have a new owner. Harley P. Rager, recently trained in pharmacy and a seasoned clerk, will take possession after the stock invoicing. Cline & Co sold the business to him and seek a new location for future operations.
The Northern Indiana Dental Society plans its annual meeting in Lostansport on Tuesday and Wednesday September 19 and 20. Dr J C Way of this place will attend in Logansport on the following Monday.
A revival in Claypool will be led by Evangelist Petty next Wednesday September 25 with Rev Sarah assisting. Petty is described as a successful evangelist though not an orator. the event promises guided instruction and spiritual gatherings.
Roann resident D V Bechtelheimer disposed of interest in the Cash Store to Samuel F Gresse and moved his family and household to Roann on Tuesday. The Recon expresses regret at the departure and wishes the family success, with updates promised on Silver Lake area activity.
The St. Joseph conference of the United Brethren in Christ opens its sixty first session in Huntington next Wednesday morning September second. About 110 ministers and an equal number of delegates will attend representing diverse fields of labor. the session continues through the following Sunday and promises to be interesting.
Samuel Smith was caught in a cave-in at a gravel pit last Thursday while near a wagon wheel. A heavy collapse bruised his knee but did not cause serious injury. he was sent home on High Street and Sycamore after a brief confinement.
Silver Lake owned mare Watson Rebel finished second in a race at the Rochester fair ragstrick. Ernest Haney entered and rode the horse and expressed satisfaction with the showing despite little training this season. Haney had previously entered Watson 1 North Manchester during fair week and hopes for a stronger record forthcoming.

Trustee Leonard urges moving southwest Lake township scholars from Bethel in Henry township to Barber school No 5 to gain seven months of instruction and a larger enrollment. He notes cost per scholar is minimal with free transportation, keeping funding within the township and improving schooling.
Meckrill died at ten o clock Sunday morning from injuries suffered while attempting to climb between cars on a Big Four freight train Saturday night near Lakeside park. He and Joseph Rowe were returning home when the drawboard incident occurred. The crash crushed his right side and limbs. he died despite medical care. He was 51, left a son and three daughters, with brothers Jacob and Simeon and sister Mrs. C E Wiltrout. Funeral Monday at Progressive Brethren church East Warsaw. interment Oakwood cemetery.
Thomas Wood died at his home in Warsaw on Wednesday of last week. The funeral was held Friday under the auspices of Kosciusko Post No 114 G A R. He was 72 and had resided in this place about 20 years ago.
Public schools in Silver Lake and Lake township plan to open Monday September 18 as enrollment rises with many new pupils. The Union Meeting of the Silver Lake pastorate in the grove south of town drew smaller crowds than hoped. Rev. Erick fell ill and missed the talk, but Rev. F M Porch delivered a successful address to a pleased audience despite the absence of the scheduled speaker.
Calvin Gresson brother to E W Gresso moved his family and household effects to this town from Roann on Tuesday. He will work in the Cash Store the larger portion of the time. We welcome Mr Gresso and family to our town.
The convention opened Tuesday evening with Rev. McCrea of Milford delivering a sermon. Wednesday morning featured Rev. Guild on the possibilities before the teacher and the mission to lead pupils to Christ. Halpenny urged careful study of lesson text and the Normal Training Course for all workers. Reports showed progress. officers were elected including Eli Hinderer as President and G. W. Elliot as Secretary. Evening session opened with further program.
About three weeks ago Shirley Parker, 12, son of Andrew Parker near Yellow Lake, stepped on a snag and suffered a severe wound. Blood poisoning set in and lockjaw followed. Dr. W S Leiter of Claypool treated him but he died Friday at two o'clock. Funeral was at Yellow Creek last Sunday conducted by Rev. Miner.
Shirley Hershall son of Andrew and Lydia Parker died September 8 1905 aged 12 years 1 month 24 days He anticipated starting school soon and had hoped to share a classroom seat with Archie Ring The obituary frames his death as a graduation to eternity and ends with a poetic blessing on his name.
A baptismal service will be held at South Pleasant church three miles south of town on Sunday September 24. Everyone is invited. After September 24, services will move to afternoon hours at 2 o clock each alternate Sabbath.
Ed Wiley returned home last Monday evening after spending about six months in Iowa. He enjoyed his summer there and may return to the Hawk Eye state in a few weeks, remaining through the winter. The local boys express happiness at his homecoming.
The Kosciusko County Sunday School convention held in Milford last week drew strong attendance. County officials praised the speakers and organization, with Kosciusko named a banner county. The next convention is set for Claypool during the first week of September 1906.
Charles McClure and family from Natchez Mississippi arrived Monday to stay with T. C. McClure and family. They came north to escape the yellow fever zone and will likely not return until cool weather halts the illness. Mr. McClure is a southern gentleman and brother of James McClure who recently wed Miss Roxie Terry of Rochester.
