Provost Crowder announced a new draft plan calling 18 year olds and men over 36 later. Questionnaires will be mailed after registration. by September 15 states report totals and serial numbers. Boards will focus on 19 to 36 year olds first, with others delayed.
The issue details the reports of the two local banks and the Claypool bank. Combined resources of the three banks exceed 300000 dollars, indicating active and rapidly growing business.
Last Saturday neighbors and friends gathered at the Walter Tridle place and within hours they plowed a sixteen acre field, harrowed and prepared to sow wheat. Thirteen plows operated by thirty horses assisted the ailing Mr. Tridle, who has been homebound with inflammatory rheumatism. Helpers included Albert Baker, Ransom Harris, George Leckrone, Clarence Hill, Steve Hill, Chester Rouse, William Secore, Hiza Brady, Ernest Carr, Salomon Helser, Hari Zile, Robert Warren and Arthur Tracy.
Rev and Mrs A D Buck of Avon Park Florida spent several days this week visiting friends here. Buck formerly served as pastor of the local Methodist church eight years ago.

He notes tents dirt floors rain water indoors long shifts training upcoming rifle range duty a field meet between regiments and jokes about chow and negros in cotton fields.
Mahala Snyder died at a Warsaw hospital last Saturday after ten days of treatment. An aged resident of the Lawn area, she had been an invalid for years and was cared for like a child. She was about seventy five. Her remains were returned to the Snyder home and the funeral took place in Claypool Monday with large attendance.
In New Location Dr Hay moves his dental par l ors from above Somme hardware into the rear rooms of Farmers Bank. Once settled he will offer pleasant quarters and asks patrons to call and see him in the new location.
A large crowd gathered at Parker Brothers livestock sale held at their farm northwest of town yesterday. Buyers are accustomed to the smooth sales conducted by the Parker brothers, and announcements of their sales consistently draw many bidders.
Verba Tullis enlisted in the aviation corps and went to Fort Wayne then Jefferson Barracks Missouri. He was detained two days, examined, and discharged due to physical disability. He visited with his parents last week and is now employed in South Bend.
The U S Food Administration announced that after December 1 a prohibition on manufacturing beer and other malt liquors will begin. A conference with President Wilson and officials from fuel food railroad administrations and the war industries board produced the order for immediate suspension of grain purchases for malt making.
A group of youths gathered Sunday afternoon to form a team and wagon for a trip to Yellow Creek Lake. They enjoyed the excursion and reflected on the hardships of overland travel faced by their forefathers, noting they would avoid driving on a gasless Sunday unless essential.
Yesterday Governor Goodrich appointed Mrs W B Siders of Warsaw to represent Kosciusko County in the sixth annual Mississippi Valley Conference on Tuberculosis. The meeting will convene at the Planters Hotel in Saint Louis on October 24.
Newton County residents gathered at the park last Saturday for an annual meeting attended by many families from the area. The event fostered community and good times for attendees.
The funeral for Mrs Amanda Youcum was held in Mentone on Wednesday. She was about 75 and was the sister of Uncle Fred Hines who lives northwest of town. Mr Hines is now the sole surviving family member.

Last Friday afternoon the embroidery club members were entertained at the home of Mrs C A Pearson. The event featured social conversation and a pleasant display of handiwork.

Kosciusko County voters must register by October 7 to participate in next November's election. The registration board began work Monday at the Warsaw courthouse. Citizens unable to visit the county seat can pick up registration blanks at the Record office in Silver Lake and mail or return them from home.
Miss Thelma Paul entertained about thirty young friends Tuesday evening at her home just north of town with a marshmallow toast and a weenie toast. An exceptionally good time was reported by all attendees.
Mr and Mrs J A Teeter and Mr and Mrs T J Aispaugh attended Napanee last week for the death and funeral of John W Teeter eldest brother of Mr Peeter He was over 66 and had been home bound for about two years.
