Silver Lake sent a sizable delegation to the North Manchester fair last week with nearly two hundred traveling by train on Friday and many others driving to attend.
Last Friday the town was mostly empty as fairgoers attended the event. The band played a street concert at noon, enlivening the small remaining crowd.
E. W. Gresso returns home from Chicago after buying fall and winter goods for the Cash Store.
The former Indiana Supreme Court Justice Joseph S Daily was found dead at 6 30 AM in his Bluffton home due to apoplexy. He was a close friend of Rev Kain of this place and the funeral was held today.
Emanuel Leckrone received a letter from his sister Mrs. Hannoah Armey visiting with her children Joz and John Armey and Mrs. Cassie Brooks near Maza North Dakota. She notes a large yield with Joe Armey threshing totals of 5150 bushels wheat 2000 bushels oats 1590 bushels tax and a plentiful potato crop with large hill yields.
Kosciusko County is praised as a top grain producer, with Mayor A. G. Wood showing a bronze medal awarded in St. Louis by the international awards jury. The Warsaw Union notes claims that Elkhart and Whitley counties lead, but the county’s certificate will be framed and displayed at the Pomona Grange hall.
Wilbur S. Shatta a Burket grocer and meat dealer who disappeared weeks ago was located in Wichita Kansas. He writes that he plans to start anew in Kansas and will send money home to settle outstanding debts.
The Secretary of the Board of State Charities designates Sunday October 29 as Prison Sunday and asks churches statewide to focus sermons on prison reforms. Notices are being mailed to ministers from the secretary's office.
Special services will be held at the Lutheran church on next Sabbath morning with the regular faith communion. All Christian people are invited and welcome. Preparatory services will be held on Saturday evening. The morning service will be delayed briefly to allow members of other churches time to attend after Sabbath school ends.
Worthy Regenos aged 21 son of Mr and Mrs William Regenos of Burket died Monday night after a three week illness with typhoid fever.
The trial of John Mauzy for the murder of Hattie Foster will be called in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday October 16.

Herber Hare, arrested last year in North Manchester on charges of pursuing and frightening Mrs. Henry Hower, has been released from bail and the case dismissed. The Wabash County grand jury had considered indicting Hare.
