Citizens are urged to announce candidacies for the upcoming Silver Lake election on November 7. Positions include marshal, clerk, treasurer and one or two council members. No aspirants from any party have yet declared, and candidates are advised to publicize their bids to gain votes.

J P Hamman returns home to Silver Lake to run the Fitton store after resigning from the Nickel Plate road where he served over a year. He left to be with his community and assist in the family business.
Mrs A. Remington, long staying with sister Mrs T. B. Hathaway and family in South Silver Lake, moved to South Whitley last Saturday to live with her son and his family. Her belongings were transported to South Whitley this week.

Mrs Edgar Metheny died after surgery in Chicago hospital for tumor removal. She was transported from Chicago last Friday for the operation, which went well at first, but she declined and passed away Tuesday morning during the procession of her husband Fir M Metheny and wife to the funeral in Argos.
Information reaches that Harrison D. DeHaven 80 died Tuesday at his Fort Wayne residence from paralysis. A Civil War veteran of the 30th Ohio volunteers, he is survived by his wife three sons four daughters one brother and nine grandchildren.
