A memorial observance set for May 23 at 10:30 a.m. will be held at the U B church with Rev. Cook of Warsaw in charge and the choir providing selections. Decoration Day services are planned for May 30 at the M E church led by Rev. Modlin of Burket with the Lutheran choir performing fitting selections.
Decoration Day services will be held at South Pleasant at two o'clock on Sunday May 10. Rev. Modlin of Barket will deliver the address and a Silver Lake choir will provide music. Local citizens honor their deceased soldiers who rest in the South Pleasant cemetery, twenty six are interred there.
Maxine Snyder resigned from a Norman drug store after several weeks on the job last Saturday evening. Miss Mabel Htanes accepted the position and has been in the store this week continuing the work.
Members of the Mazda class of the M. EB. Sunday School were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hively in the country west of town last Wednesday evening.

Seven year old Creighton Oldfather was injured when a rope guided coasting ride failed near his home three miles southeast of town. He suffered a severe scalp wound and facial lacerations after slipping from the buggy and being run over by a rear wheel.
The case stems from an altercation between Hugh Bowen and Mark Oppy in Warsaw. Bowen traveled to town and a warrant was issued. Oppy was arrested Wednesday, posted bond, and remained at home. The hearing is scheduled Friday at 1 PM in Justice Graham's court in Warsaw with likely attendance from the area.
Mrs. R. T. Rice died last Thursday forenoon after months of illness. She had surgery for tumors two months earlier and was moved home where she improved briefly. A devout Christian, she was highly respected for living by the golden rule. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 30 p.m. in the Christian church at LaFontaine, with burial in LaFontaine cemetery.
Large Warsaw crowd attended last Sunday ceremonies for the cornerstone of the new M E church. Bishop McDowell delivered an excellent sermon.
A.J. Bill, confined southwest of town for six weeks with pneumonia, was in town last Saturday for the first time since staying at home.

The Metheny versus Evans case was set for trial on Monday but postponed to May 27. Judge Bauwser will preside over the settlement.
B. E. Spangle accompanied J. H. Gerken to the Odd Fellows home in Greensburg then returned to Indianapolis to represent the local lodge at the I. O. WU F Grand Lodge. He is expected home Thursday evening.
Warsaw preacher Rev A Arnold Fletcher will speak Sunday afternoon at 8 o clock at Claypool Men’s meeting. His subject is The Dog in the Manger and many local residents are expected to attend.
Leo Leonard suffers from appendicitis and is not well this week. It is feared an opera may have to be performed as a result.
A severe storm last Saturday evening saw lightning hit the M E Church in Claypool damaging the belfry and starting a fire that caused about 500 dollars in damage. The choir was practicing when the strike occurred and an investigation found no initial fire. Flames later erupted from the tower as firefighters saved the building, though the belfry top burned away.
Mrs Harriet Grauser aged 85 died at the home of her niece Mrs Frank Shipley northwest of Claypool last Saturday. Death attributed to old age and complications from injuries in a fall. Formerly of Roann, she had lately lived with her niece.

Mrs Samuel Bashore of Hdaf Maryland was seriously injured when his car collided with a freight train on a switch in Salsbury last Friday. He was unconscious after being thrown from the vehicle and rushed to a hospital where no bones were broken but multiple bruises were found. Bashore was reported recovering and improving.
Mr and Mrs M M Rager of Goshen were in town last week. They have traded their Goshen home for a ten acre tract of land south of the city and will move to the country.
Surveyor placed grade stakes on the Gresso road to prepare for contractor arrival next week. Miles, a contractor, told RECORD tools would be loaded and shipped, arriving around the fifth, enabling grading to start in full. Officials hope four miles of the best road in the county will be ready before snow falls.
