A. W. Dimock describes a Harper's visit to an Everglades island to study wild birds. No guns were fired and birds grew tame as a camera team worked among rookery nests. They fed, posed, and watched young birds hatch and mature, while the hunter-boy climbed and paddled through sloughs to retrieve subjects.
