Washington Note reports Postmaster General Payne pressing to bring Tyner papers to court with Roosevelt aware, urging grand jury action. It notes civil service abuses, dismissals, and promotions blocked, plus Miles Philippines report and Supreme Court disfranchisement ruling leaving redress to voters and Congress.
Voters tally 127 ballots on May 4 delivering a Republican sweep. Dr. E. B. Flavien announces the installation of a large Birtman type X ray machine with galvanic and faradic equipment. This marks a new medical departure for the town, enabling treatment of chronic and unusual ailments beyond ordinary methods. Dr. Flavien studied in Chicago and offers demonstrations to volunteers.
The account notes Livingston and Monroe arranged the 1803 deal with Napoleon, not Jefferson, who initially opposed it as unconstitutional. With public support for ratification, he consented and sought a constitutional amendment, later admitting he exceeded his powers and risking removal if the act failed.
Rynard S Warner born February 20 1812 in Chester County PA died April 28 1902 in Kosciusko County Indiana aged 91 years 2 months 8 days. He moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana in 1877 and married Sarah Dunn in 1541. The couple had eight surviving children. Funeral was held April 29 at Grove Chapel Church with Rev. C J Miner officiating.
On May 2 George L. Jones and Vannana Kissinger of Claypool wed at the United Brethren parsonage in Barket, conducted by Rev. O. J. Miner. Soon after Walter Werrick and Eunice Larber from near Palestine arrived with friends seeking a second ceremony.
