Noah W. Butterbaugh died Saturday evening after a long battle with tuberculosis. Funeral services were held Tuesday forenoon, with the community remembering his gentle nature and unwavering patience during his years of illness.
Noah W Butterbaugh son of Daniel and Barsra Butterbaugh died at 40 after a long struggle with tuberculosis. Born December 26 1869 in Kosciusko County Indiana he taught school studied telegraphy and served as railway mail clerk. He married Orpha Funk in 1900 joined the Church of the Brethren and pursued ministry. Funeral conducted March 22 at Eel River Church with Elder Daniel Wysong. He leaves a wife two sons and several siblings and relatives.
Desire to thank neighbors and friends for assistance during illness and death of our husband. Mrs Orphan Butterbaugh and children express gratitude and will repay the kindness as needed.
The Wabash Plain Dealer reports Barry has arranged for a construction company to take over the interurban line work from Miami Valley Construction. Groundbreaking is slated for early April. A letter to the same effect was received in Silver Lake with a press gag request, and has not been publicized.
Smith Higgins, a lineman for Mutual Telephone, fractured a bone in his left leg above the ankle after his motorcycle fell about three miles west of town while returning home after dark. He remounted, rode home, then visited Dr. Cary to have the fracture reduced and, with Una Oldfather, walked home again.
Tax exemptions apply to mortgaged properties and must be filed after March 1 and before April 30. Prepare the exemption document at the RECORD office with G. A. Brush, Notary Public, handling the affidavit.
The Summe brothers open today with a 30 by 60 foot tent in front of their store and a packed interior of stock and farm machinery. About twenty firm representatives attend, showcasing goods while hot biscuits maple syrup and coffee are offered. Saturday features a big day with a gift distribution in the afternoon.
Samuel S. Robinson celebrated his 86th birthday on a Monday at his Silver Lake home. Guests included family from Toledo Warsaw Akron and from several states who sent 143 birthday cards. He remains active and enjoyed the day with his large automobile available for guest transportation.
A man arrived last Saturday confident that spring had begun he bought a straw hat and wore it home eager for summer. He hoped others would follow and fool the weatherman with early warmth.
The Modern Woodmen of America lodge held a banquet Wednesday night to honor wives sweethearts and eighteen new members who joined in February and March 1910. After supper by the U B aid society the Woodcrafters and members enjoyed a social hour in the hall. The Silver Lake branch, though two years old, is already a sizable order.
Two boys from Claypool walked into town last Sunday afternoon to size up the area and meet local residents. They sought to learn about community life and make friendly introductions during their casual excursion.
Morning aim and evening preaching at the UB church postponed Easter entertainment canceled due to measles. Training of the children could not proceed.
Mrs Earl Haney and family visited from Montpelier Ohio last Saturday. Mr Haney spent Sunday with them and plans to accept a good position in the state of Washington.
Mrs. Albright arrived from Lima Ohio last Saturday to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Josiah Fuck northeast of town. Mr Albright will arrive later this week and the couple plans a trip together through the western states after a few days visit.
The eighth grade examination for graduation was held Saturday by Trustee Frantz. Names of those who took the exam include Paul Snyder Artie Swihart Hazel Bouse Vera Kern Howard McGlennon John Gall Claire Paulus Glen Paulus Harley Welsh Hurshel Drudge Vera Zellers Flossie Yates Gladys Wiltrout Clem Teeter Frank Fruit Flossie Krieter Percy Walburn Hawn Barrett Erica Dahlem. If not successful they may retake on Saturday April 16.

They describe the ascent over Sherman Summit, town growth with schools churches a new courthouse and a planned high school, and note rapid building including a $40,000 hotel. They cite soil as volcanic ash rich in potential crops and outline evolving land prices and living costs. They promise to provide further information upon request.
