Powerful Revival At M E Church Sparks Conversions

The town experiences a strong religious revival led by Rev. E. E. Wright at the M E church. Over four weeks about 75 conversions, 37 joining the church, with nightly and some daytime services. Prayer meetings at local businesses accompany the effort. Wright endures long hours but remains upbeat about the results.

Man Pleads Guilty in Warsaw Robbery Case

John Carroll, age 45, was arrested Monday in Warsaw for robbing the Ripple home. After a preliminary hearing Wednesday he pleaded not guilty, then pled guilty in court Thursday when called by jury. Judge Roys sentenced him to Michigan City Prison for two to fourteen years, starting Friday.

Widow Mary Hamman Granted $10 Pension

Mrs Mary Hamman widow of the late George Hamman in the north part of town has been granted a pension of ten dollars per month by local authorities.

County assessors begin countywide property appraisals

Assessors and deputies met in Warsaw with the County Assessor to receive supplies and instructions. They began interviewing taxpayers Saturday and have until May 15 to complete the work. Real estate valuations are expected to rise as values have increased over the past four years.

Township Teachers Institute Program Notes

School program for a township teachers institute held in the school building on Saturday March 9 starting at 9 30 am. Fore noon items include roll call quotations from educators basis of practical teaching and chapters by Kern Correll Lukens Cutterbaugh and Martindale Brulah Recitation essays in application and plays by Miss Lukens. Afternoon features songs recitations and plays from various township schools along with tasks by citizens and patrons.

Thomas Warren 26 Dies in Indianapolis

Thomas Warren aged 26 and native of this county died in Indianapolis Wednesday evening after a brief illness. His remains were brought to Claypool Thursday and later interred at Fairview four miles southwest. He studied for the ministry and left a wife and two children. Warsaw Daily Times reports.

Dwelling House Burns at Yellow Creek Lake

A dwelling owned by William Fuller at Yellow Creek lake burned Friday night with nearly all contents destroyed. The family escaped in night clothes as a meat smoker caught fire, with a strong west wind fanning the flames. Fuller had no insurance and neighbors began a relief subscription for lumber, timber, and cash to rebuild.

Lawshe Named Third Assistant Postmaster General

A. L. Lawshe of Converse Indiana is to be appointed Third Assistant Postmaster General, succeeding Edwin C Madden. Lawshe has served as auditor in Cuba and the Philippine islands and recently returned home seeking a domestic assignment. He is expected to take the post in April with a salary around 1500 dollars annually.

Babe Found Dead In Bed Near Here

A nine week old infant of Mr and Mrs Harrison Perry was found dead in bed about three am Monday three and a half miles southwest of town. Coroner Kiplinger called for an inquest and Drs Cary and Amiss performed autopsy revealing a ruptured gall bladder likely causing immediate death. Funeral held at Bethel church on Wednesday.
