Solomon Leckron of Columbia City attempted death by hanging at his brother S P Leckrone's home southeast of town. After his wife found him and his sister-in-law cut the strap, the man revived and was taken to Warsaw for treatment. He is about sixty eight and had a recent stroke left him weak in mind.
Mrs Dora Raber departed Monday for a new home in Gary. The town expresses regret at her departure but extends wishes for success. She will retain fond ties to Silver Lake and its people and plans occasional visits.
Wichita Kansas residents Rev. and Mrs. C A Grunder visited on Monday while en route to Marion to visit his mother. Grunder is a successful evangelist and is well acquainted with Rev. Singer of this place, the two having been schoolmates.
Revival services start Saturday evening in Silver Lake under Hl M Rivele pastor of the Church of God Akron Ind. A new tabernacle tent and seats have been bought and placed east of the garage on vacant land. All Christians are invited to attend and prayers requested for a blessing to Silver Lake and surrounding area. Committee.
Mr and Mrs Everett Shipley and Miss Fannie Shipley of Claspon joined Sherman Hildenbrand of Packerton Alda Lukens of California and Mr and Mrs Myron Murphy for a Sunday at Yellow Creek lake. They spent the day fishing and held a fish fry at the Murphy home west of town.
W A Kern visited Warsaw on Tuesday for business while Harry Groninger went to North Manchester on the same day. Mrs Abe Priser and daughter Zephia from near South Whitley visited the Ted Dillman home Wednesday along with Mr and Mrs Grube of Bippus.
Members of the Victoria reading club were entertained at the Mrs. R. M. Frye home Monday evening. Mrs. J. H. inglin of St Louis attended and delivered an engaging talk.
J W Yates of New York City visited the L B Yount home northwest of town during a six week sightseeing route to Colorado Nebraska California Missouri Washington and Oregon. This week he is at Yellowstone National Park.
West Miss Mabelle Martindale left here last Sunday for a two week visit with relatives in Chicago and will continue to Oconomovac Wisconsin for further visiting.
A farmer boasts of waking before three, another claims earlier hours. Suspecting secrecy, the first investigates by visiting the neighbor at two in the morning. The neighbor’s wife answers, saying her husband was up early but left, leaving the mystery unresolved.
Lawrence Beigh and Elsie Cauffman of Claypoole were married Saturday in Warsaw. Beigh is a Claypoole schoolteacher.
Bennie Drudge reports contracts signed for 156.5 acres of pickles, signaling a bumper crop and substantial earnings for the Reed Murdock group. The Silver Lake salting plant sent a representative to a Chicago convention with managers from 28 stations across Michigan Wisconsin Indiana. Drudge toured Hammond main station and attended lectures during the visit.
Members of the S. T. Club enjoyed a Friday park supper and pictures ended with the board they stood on breaking sending them into the water.
Mr and Mrs J F Oldfather attended a birthday celebration at the Underwood home in Pierceton last Sunday.

The funeral for Johun Ring of north west of here was held on Thursday of last week. Ring, born in Germany, was past 86 and had come to this country when very young.

A son was born to Mr and Mrs Lester Rowland of Nappanee on Monday or Tuesday The newborn has been named Moire confirming a joyful family event for local residents.
Jesse Jones of Mentone and Edna Brown of Claypool wed in Warsaw at 2 o clock Monday, conducted by Rev. Aiken. The couple, well known locally, will reside in Mentone.
A poetical note from Dr WL Rantz of Roshall Wisconsin written for his daughter Marion visiting with her grandmother Mary Rantz. The verse pleads homesickness and affection, praising the daughter as loyal and cherished. The poem references a nickname Yellow Top and requests fond memories.
Mrs Milton Nichols of the McCrellus Brooks farm east of town awoke to find her two month old baby dead in bed. Coroner from Warsaw held an inquest and ruled indigestion as the cause. Funeral Sunday at Eel River church with Rev Amos Freed officiating. Burial in the nearby cemetery.
Word received last week says Robert Craig son of J C Craig of this place joined the state militia at Knox and will accompany the troops to the Mexican border.
Frank Barrett son of Mr and Mrs William Barrett of Warsaw has joined the militia and is now in camp with Company H at Indianapolis.
The Mazda class of the M. E. Sunday school spent Wednesday afternoon at the Rev H W Park home in Tippecanoe with about thirty members enjoying a pleasant few hours together.
James Harter reports the cream station will be closed all day on July 4 marking a temporary shutdown for Independence Day observations and maintenance.
A festive Fourth of July celebration took place in North Manchester with community activities and public events. Residents gathered for fireworks and communal activities marking Independence Day in the town.
James and Willie Harter and John Craig visited Indiana polis last Sunday in the capitol city and at Fort Benjamin Harrison. They called on Sam Snodgrass and Robert Craig with the malitia there.

He mentions Fort Sam Houston housing 1000 to 3000 soldiers and potential mobilization up to 20000 30000 troops.
