Edward Warren of Randolph County faced a charge for taking a letter near New Pittsburg. his demurrer to the complaint was overruled, with the court holding the statute applies to new conditions as if enacted recently.

Flag Day Observance Urged By American Flag Association

New York City based American Flag Association, formed in 1897 of flag committees and patriotic groups, circulates urged observance of Flag Day on Saturday June 14. The circular calls for displaying flags from churches schools public buildings and homes and for citizens to promote patriotic activities. Congress in 1777 defined the flag as it appears today.

Samuel J. Carr died suddenly at his home in Silver Lake Indiana on June 7 1902 aged 57 years 26 days He was born May 11 1845 in Cincinnati Ohio and served as first lieutenant in Co K 13th Indiana Volunteers He lived in Indiana most of his life was postmaster at Silver Lake and left a wife Jennie Kline a daughter Ethel Braude and a son William who died young The funeral was held at the U B Church in Silver Lake with large attendance and interment at South Pleasant Cemetery
