May recorded heavy rain with twenty five days of rain in thirty one. Ground soaked since historic flood. creeks rose briefly in the wet spell though little runoff after. Farmers worry over corn while forecasts promise drier, warmer days ahead.
Decoration services in Warsaw on the first Monday afternoon attracted sev en thousand attendees. Rev Overmeyer delivered a notable dress that was well received by the crowd.
Carpenters at Sev Bros elevator in this place enhanced the grain dump facilities to handle rising business. The second dump is being built to speed loading and better serve patrons.
Marion residents heard Governor Ralston and T. C. McClure at a lengthy G A R event. McClure enjoyed the address and wished more locals could have attended the speech by the governor.
A large crowd attended decoration services at the M. E. church last Sunday. Rev. Modlin of Burket delivered an excellent address after the service, and flowers were laid on the graves by flower girls. Burial plans were discussed for later in the year.
Work started Monday to lay cement walks along East Sycamore Street in front of properties owned by Albert Thacker John Ayers Arthur Getty Harry Bouse and Alice Tridle. The project will greatly improve the neighborhood’s appearance.

Frank Humphrey age 30 attorney of Pierceton was adjudged insane in Warsaw and jailed to await transfer to Logansport hospital. He had been deranged for some time and went to the Warsaw courthouse with intent to shoot officials but was disarmed by the sheriff and others and placed in jail.
The gravel pit just south of the cemetery was opened Tuesday by road contractors Miles and Shaffer. From appearance the gravel is of excellent quality.
Streets are cited this week to oil them and remove dust for the summer. Residents demand oiling as previously used methods increased dust in past years.

Information arrives that Ruth Friend daughter of Mrs. Cora Williams was united in marriage May 18 at the Baptist parsonage in Peru. The couple will reside in Peru after the ceremony.
A Little White House family travels to Wildewood where Mabel discovers a hidden doll inside a tree cupboard. The doll named Matilda Maria, with six dresses and a Prudence sampler, becomes the cherished treasure kept into adulthood by Mabel.
Large attendance at South Pleasant last Sunday afternoon for Decoration services. Rev. Modlin gave an able address after an excellent program. The program included Call to Order by Song Amerita choir invocation by Rey Krofe, song, introduction of speaker Capt. N. E L. Miller, address, song by choir, collection, graveside flowers led by Thomas Gambie and flowers girls, sung by choir, and benediction.
The Legion of Honor was founded by Napoleon on May 19 1802 as a reward for merit. It ranks from grand crosses to legionaries and has been continued through multiple regimes with many Americans and British recipients.
The Ladies Aid Society of the U. B. Church will hold a pastry sale at Fitton and Hamman store on Saturday. Cakes pies and various pastries will be for sale.
Graduation set for Saturday June 3 in the Winona Lake auditorium. Two hundred fifty two eighth graders will finish and prepare to enter high school next fall. A three year soldier, M. Jaques of this place, is the county's youngest veteran and the only son of a veteran. He notes a movement in Warsaw to organize a county son of veteran camp to prepare for future decorations.
Mr and Mrs A Snoberger W H Kern D F Homman and H P Rager attended a bankers meeting in this section of the state at Lake Manitou near Rochester yesterday. A noon fish fry was the main feature of the gathering.

The Mazda class of the M. E. Sunday school hosts a big ice cream festival and outing at Silver Lake in the Paulus building on Thursday evening June 10 to kick off the season.
A sizable contingent from the locality attended decoration exercises at the Palestine cemetery last Sunday afternoon. Hon. J. E. Eschbach of Warsaw delivered the address, and the crowd was said to be the largest ever assembled for a like occasion.
James Harter, longtime tenant above the Hiram Rager store, has relocated to rooms above the Dr. Leckrone office. The new location is described as a busier, bawdier area for his cream station.
Brethren church evangelist C. Walter Warscler will preach Sunday morning and evening at West Be River church two miles east of here. A large audience is expected and it will be a great pleasure to listen to this noted gentleman.
Members of the Victoria reading club gathered at Mrs H W Kline’s home Monday evening. A pleasing program was presented and refreshments were served. The next meeting will be hosted by Mrs C L Leonard at her home next Monday evening.
Judge Robert T. Daniel of Griffin Georgia grand sire of the sovereign grand lodge Independent Order of Odd Fellows died in Fitzgerald Georgia from apoplexy after being stricken while addressing the state Odd Fellows convention. He was 57 and had been inaugurated grand sire at the sovereign grand lodge session in Atlantic City New Jersey. He also held a past office in the Improved Order of Red Men.
Members of the Mazda class of the M. E. Sunday school gathered at Mrs. Howard Judd's Sycamore Street home last evening for a pleasant program and refreshments. Officers for the coming year were elected: President R. M. Frye, Vice President Win Warner, Secretary Mrs. C. A. Pearson, Assistant Lecy Mrs. S. F. McKrill, Treasurer Mrs. W. H. Davis.
Silver Lake beat Leesburg 8 to 7 in a Sunday league game at home. Silver Lake shows strong season form with another win maintaining their winning pace.
