Traster Ends His Life at Disko Station

August Traster, husband of a Disko woman who earlier killed herself, died by taking carbolic acid at the Erie station in Disko. He had come to arrange care for his two small children and planned to take the youngest with him. The incident occurred as an eastbound train was expected, after a station visit with a patron.

Laketon man Eyes Silver Lake for Harness Shop

T. C. Johnson of Laketon visited town last Friday and contemplates opening a harness shop in Silver Lake in about six weeks. Local talk suggests he could succeed as there has been no regular shop here for several years.

Mrs Higgins Improves After Severe Illness

Mrs Higgins who had been ailing severely experienced a sudden downturn last Thursday evening. Mr Higgins returning home found her suffering with spasms and paralysis from a Brishti disease related stroke. By Sunday noon she recognized family and friends, after which she rapidly improved without further medicine.

Road work progress in Gresso area update

Report indicates most of Part One of the Gresso road outside the corporation is graded. Plowing started on the north street and pavement preparation will begin soon. Weather limited work this week as teams hauled corn and moved resources.

Roscoe Self, visiting from Williston North Dakota for three weeks with his parents Mr and Mrs S J Self, started for home last Sunday. He was accompanied by his sister Miss Ollie Self who will stay for some time for rest. She had worked in Chicago for several years.

Robert Kelley was arrested in Silver Lake Saturday by Fulton county officers. He is held for contempt of court after failing to pay alimony ordered by his divorce from Mrs. Kelly. The court had mandated support that he neglected to honor.

A troupe of colored people arrived Monday at the park and will stay until next Tuesday to present evening entertainments. A special program is set for Sunday bydrawn afternoon and evening events.

Twelve members of the embroidery club toured Yellow Creek lake Tuesday morning and spent the day at the Burdge cottage. Mrs. C. BE. Gresso and Mrs. I. A. Snoberger drove the group in their autos. A very good time was had with part of the day spent fishing.

Death of Harris: Body Found by Big Four Tracks Near Warsaw

The Warsaw area reports the death of William Harris a 43 year old mulatto found beside the Big Four railroad tracks near Warsaw. He had a fractured skull and extensive bruising suggesting a fall from a passenger train the prior night. Harris had no fixed address and had been caring for race horses.

Funeral of Mrs Mary Ann Sinton Held Last Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs Mary Ann Sinton were held Saturday afternoon at the Eel River church five miles east of town with burial following. The 83 year old resident died in Chicago last Thursday after living with a son there for two years. She is survived by three children including Jobo Sinton, a well known local figure.

Big Meeting in Claypool Veterans Day Service

Next Sunday afternoon a Soldier Day gathering will occur at the Claypool men’s meeting with Rev. Neely of Tiosa delivering a sermon and participating in song. An orchestra from Palestine and a drum corps from the Warsaw Grand Army post with the men’s chorus will provide entertainment for an hour before the service. All men and especially old soloists are urged to attend in the sister town. Warsaw veterans are expected.

McKrill and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Laughman welcomed a 11 12 pound baby boy last Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. John Lynch at the Lando Cline home southwest of town have a baby boy born last Saturday. The mother and babe are doing nicely and John is recovering from his stroke.
