A pleasant Fourth of July day drew many locals to Myrtle Glenn park. People arrived early for lake outings and picnics while the afternoon offered solos and performances by the Underhill family. A central lake pier fireworks display drew hundreds to cap the celebration.
James Anglin and his wife from St Louis visited for a couple of days at the L. W. Myers home after coming down from Warsaw on Sunday.
Remains of Mrs A M Cummins were taken through here Wednesday of last week en route to Pierceton where interment took place. F M Methenn of Indianapolis accompanied the funeral party to the burial site and returned Thursday before traveling to his home in Indianapolis.
Last week in Michigan Miss Shireman daughter of Mr and Mrs Noah Shireman of South Silver Lake wed G E Smith of Akron. The marriage occurred quietly with the couple leaving for the Wolverine State and returning to Silver Lake where they were welcomed by her parents.

A communication from Samuel Gill of Glasgow Montana recounts his presence with eighteen parents northwest of town about a month ago. The letter will appear in our next issue.
The AP reports Mrs E J Ramsey of 1415 Third Ave New York sought the address of Francis Rager who attended the Erie wreck that killed her husband Robert Ramsey near Alger Ohio on Sunday morning November 11 1911. The information was sent and a conference with Rager in New York is anticipated.
Fred Higgins and his family from Anderson visited the Smith Higgins home last week. Fred has been employed indoors for more than a year and enjoyed the outing.

Seven year old Lineman Lineman Lineman Lineman Winona Cloud Melville of Warsaw died after touching a live wire while helping remove a transformer from a pole at Winona Saturday morning. He worked as an electrician for the Wiepona Co. and was assisted by Orange Deaton and Carl Bicard.
During an early Monday electrical storm lightning struck a telephone wire near the Nate Way residence southwest of town. The current ran along the line into the house tearing siding from one side and breaking a window pane while smashing the telephone apparatus. Several family members were shocked but sustained no serious injuries.

Here with Candy Wagon Mr and Mrs Ed Varvias of Cedar Lake are guests at the Levi Rhodes home in East Silver Lake this week. Mrs Varvias and Mrs Rhodes are sisters. Varvias runs a candy kitchen and travels by wagon selling his goods in towns for several days. He will likely be downtown with his wagon this Thursday evening.
Mrs. Longacre, living near North Webster, was severely burned Friday noon when coal oil ignited after she poured it into a stove. She died within hours. A neighbor rescued a small child from the burning house, which was afterward destroyed.
L. J. Bussard of North Manchester veteran Big Four agent will retire on pension once a successor is secured after 36 years of service with the road.
Henry Hover and his wife arrived Friday after a twelve day motor car tour across the country. Hover and S. B. Flora are cousins and the Hovers visit Indiana friends during their extended stay near Condo North Dakota.
