The bullet placed by Mrs. Ella S. Horner into Dr. James W. Simpson in 1908 was removed by Dr. Schuyler Clinton Jaques at his West Eighty-ninth Street office. Simpson, who refused anesthesia and endured a three quarter hour operation, had previously been shot in the Vernon Valley home near Northport L I. He traveled to Roosevelt Hospital for treatment and later consulted surgeons in England France and Germany cautious of complications from the retained lead slug.
The new telephone directory is completed and ready for delivery from the exchange yet the demoralized system due to the storm renders it almost useless at the present time.
