A fire at about 6 30 Monday evening destroyed the C L Leonard farm house two miles west of town. Lewis Fisher and family escaped as neighbors saved some clothing and meat while other items were lost. The family stayed first at A J Scott’s and then Myron Murphy’s homes. The fire likely started from a defective chimney. Leonard had 400 insurance on the house, Fisher had no contents coverage.

Mrs Elizabeth Neher Dies After Gall Stones Operation
Mrs Elizabeth Neher aged 63 died two weeks after gall stones and appendicitis surgery at a Huntington hospital. She was born July 5 1880 the daughter of Samuel and Mrs Montel and married to Simon P Neher August 22 1908. They had four children Dora and three sons and one daughter. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Brethren in North Manchester with burial west of town.
