Russell Deaton aged 19 son of Mr and Mrs John Deaton Sidney narrowly escaped death Thursday when his right arm was caught in a swiftly revolving line shaft inside a Sidney elevator. He freed himself but suffered two fractures and multiple cuts and bruises. a physician treated him and he was reported progressing as well as could be expected.
To Exchange Farms Warren Hammond and his family will move near Kewanna after exchanging farms with his father Alex Hammond. The transfer is expected to be completed next week.
Noah Shireman his wife and daughter from east of this place and Grover Huffman his wife and children from Sidney attended the Clymer family reunion in Peru city park last week. They met many old acquaintances including a cousin Mrs Shireman had not seen in over 35 years.
Warsaw pastor Rev Verlirg Jameson will preach at Center U B Church at 10:30 Sunday. He graduated Warsaw high school in 1911 and attends Lebanon Valley College at Annville Penna to prepare for the ministry.
The 13th District Nidica Society will hold a gathering at the Jon at Wawasee lake on Monday September 4. Doctors and main families will attend and be entertained by boat rides. A fine dinner will be served at the Inn.
A moving picture show runs in the Rager room on Friday and Saturday night. Admission is 10 cents. The program features three reels of films and two illustrated songs.
Drs. Ira Leckrone and N Austin Cary attended the Kosciusko County Medical Society meeting in Warsaw on Tuesday. The well attended session heard two papers by Dr Anglin of Warsaw on Diseases of the Thyroid Glands and Dr Yocum of Mentone on Pathies in and out of Medicina.
William Jennings Bryan traveled through here Monday afternoon by large automobile en route from Wisconsin to North Manchester. Local residents gathered as the prominent figure passed, adding to the day's notable events in the community.
F D Hayman wife and grandmother traveled by Frank Zimmerman car to Middlebury last Sunday. Grandma stayed at Mel Hayman’s home. the couple and Zimmerman went to Constantine Michigan for dinner with Kayman’s cousin and family, then returned within twelve hours. Visit touted at end with Sis Perkins as money saver.
The fifth annual Rickeland Moyer reunion took place on Friday near Beaver Dam Lake with about seventy five registrants due to rain. Officers for the coming year were elected and a talk on pioneer life by Joe H. Rickel highlighted the event.
Dr. correspondent travels by wagon toward Lind and Rousseau on the Cheyenne river in Dakota Territory. He describes a raging river, no boat on the north bank, a failed ford attempt, and a rough night at Mike Dunn’s ranch with coyotes and prairie dogs as companions. He notes Indian lands, opened reservations, and sparse railroad lines near Mobridge.
The Silver Lake high schools will begin next Monday September 4. Indications point to large attendance for the new school year. The township common schools will not open until two weeks later.
Emery Scutt and family visited Wabash on Tuesday to take their daughter Mildred to a specialist. The growth in her nostrils was removed in a successful operation, and she was brought home that evening.
Samuel Groninger and family from near Laketon and Miss Mary Stickel from near this place visited Kibbie Michigan at the William Stickel home. They traveled by Mr Groninger’s automobile, returning Tuesday. They note a bumper fruit crop in Michigan.
Local entertainment note invites the public to attend a Thursday evening show at the Akron Opera House featuring the Sis Perkins troupe and their cyclone of fun. September 7 is the event date and the plan is to go and see them.
The Mutual Telephone Company central office in this place went dead for about thirty minutes on Tuesday forenoon. Operators failed to locate the fault until Manager Oldfather repaired a transmitter issue. No blame attached to operators as many calls mounted and rings went unanswered during the outage.
A sizable party from the locality rode Nickel Plate excursion rates to Chicago last Sunday. Among the travelers were J. F. Oldfather, Mrs. Gus Bouse and two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Brown and daughter, Mrs. Everett Jontz, Mrs. Lloyd Sheeley and Miss Josephine Carpenter. They reported a very enjoyable day and saw much of the Windy City.
Ezra Funk and his wife arrived home Wednesday at noon after a ten day absence. They visited with friends and relatives at many points in northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

He explains staying with relatives near Eagle Butte and receiving a telegraph about his family’s safe progress. The letter ends with a note on the wet season and community hope.
Laura Snodgrass of Burker suffered a broken arm and multiple cuts when her new Overland car was struck by an interurban near a crossing between Wa bash and Marion. Frank Summewas uninjured but both occupants escaped before the crash. The motorman reportedly did not signal as the car approached. The machine was badly damaged and Snodgrass received hospital treatment in Marion.

Families including Rowland Kreiter Butterbaugh Zeiters and Beber attendances, plus teachers institute in Warsaw and a large Alsbert Whittenberger gathering with many relatives sharing a dinner and fruit desserts.
