Burglars entered through a basement window at Ramsey and Summe store and opened the cash drawer taking about ten dollars in change. The Haney and Martin restaurant was also entered that night with a window screen removed. clothing belonging to Ernest Haney was found abandoned near the restaurant. No other valuables missing.
Xtina Maubél Martindale longtime instructor in Silver Lake and South Bend schools will not teach this year. She plans to enter college and take instruction for the winter term.
Otho Winger president of the College at North Manchester was badly cut and bruised and Mrs. Winger suffered a broken left arm when their car rolled over near Liberty Mills on Thursday evening last week. They were pinned beneath the vehicle for nearly an hour before help arrived.

A county Klansmen gathering last Friday in a rented field near Claypool initiated more than a dozen candidates. After the ceremony a forty foot cross was burned as a Warsaw minister delivered an address while spectators lined the road and fences and watched from a distance.

From the M E Home in Warren, Harriett Wiltrout arrived last Friday and is visiting here this week with many friends. She spent more than three months at the Metho dist Home and expresses fond feelings about the place.
George Ayers bought the Metheny property formerly occupied by the R. M. Frye family. The Ayers plan to move from their east of town farm into the new home within the next two weeks.
William Sawyer and his wife from North Manchester with Quinter Hines of nearby depart for a motor journey to Luddington Michigan to spend a week or ten days there.
Russell Kreamer of Akron son of Mr and Mrs A J Kreamer underwent an operation in War Saw last Saturday to remove a piece of steel embedded in his eyeball. A fragment from hammering on steel flew into his eye causing pain and a sore optic for several days.
Members of the Hill families gathered at Myrtle-Glenn Park for their annual reunion. Attendees traveled from nearby towns and as far as one hundred miles to meet relatives renew acquaintances and share a substantial dinner.

Mrs W H Davis hosts a house party this week at her mother Mrs Margaret Paulus home on East Main Street. Attendees include Mrs Luda Homman Mrs Ernest Werner Mrs J D Sickles and Mrs H B Farman from Indianapolis and Warsaw.
Hallie Drudge suffered the loss of an eye when a car driven by KE Hamilton struck a parked vehicle on the Goshen road near the park after the Fire and Drudge reunion. All others in the party escaped serious injury, though they were shaken. The injury required immediate transport to Elkhart General Hospital.
News from Mentone confirms the death of E P Snyder at his home after months of pernicious anemia. He was about 52, survived by wife three sons and two daughters with funeral at the Methodist church in Mentone and burial at Lake View Cemetery. He lived in the area nearly thirty years and was employed at Monument Works.
Mr. James Jontz, once ill at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fruitt east of town, has shown improvement in recent days.
Joel Rickel and Jeff Farner return to their Meaina Ohio home after attending the Meyer Rickel family reunion. They visited relatives including Elza Brady, a cousin of Joel Rickel, during their trip last week.

A union meeting was held Sunday evening at the Church of the Brethren in North Manchester to honor Rev. Schutz as he prepares to leave for Yale University. All churches participated and a large crowd attended, showing appreciation for his services.

A barn on the Lawrence Boganwright farm west of Mentone burned to the ground during an early Monday electrical storm. Lightning struck the structure and its contents were destroyed. The fire was spotted shortly after it began and all livestock had been removed. Estimated loss nears $3000, with partial insurance coverage.
