A Mentone home fire early Thursday morning claimed the lives of Charles Webster, his wife, and their baby. The tragedy started when gasoline was mistaken for coal oil while lighting a stove. Mrs Webster and Mr Webster perished trying to aid. Their two young daughters escaped. The house near Mentone belonged to Mr Barton. local firemen could do little to help due to distance.

Ulery Died At Home Near North Manchester At 62
Jacob S. Ulery aged 62 died at his home two miles east of North Manchester on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. He had been well until Monday evening and worked until then. He was the brother of Mrs. Samuel Clymer. The funeral was held at the Middle House of German Baptist denomination five miles east of town at 10 o clock Friday morning.

Frank Ferree and family of Mishawaka attended. Postmaster Ferree and wife visited Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Ferree stayed through the week with daughter Mrs. Leonard Diskey. Accident at Myrtle Glen Park Injures Anderson Party
Albert Glant, part of a five man party from Anderson, was handling a .22 Winchester target rifle at Myrtle Glen Park when it discharged. The bullet pierced the fleshy part of his thumb, tore the palm, and clipped the fingertip. Dr. Cary attended the injury during a Silver Lake outing.
