Jacob Montel Dead at 68 Near North Manchester
Jacob Montel died at his home about four miles southeast of town on Thursday morning after a week of illness culminating in pneumonia. He is survived by his wife three daughters Effie Overholser Iva Rhodes Emma Burzer three sons Arta Alva at home Royal and brother Samuel Montel along with many relatives. The funeral is set for 10 o'clock Saturday at the Church of the Brethren two miles west of North Manchester.

Local Farmer Ends Life In Barn Tragedy Near Here
Jonah Alspaugh 58 a farmer living about eight miles southeast of here took his own life Tuesday morning. His body was found hanging from a rope in the barn by family members. His mental condition had been very bad for some time and he had been closely watched. He left the house to the brood house and was later missed. His brother reportedly died by suicide in a similar manner years ago. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Fire destroys farm home of John Cady near Sidney
Last Friday morning a fire completely destroyed the Cady farm home east of Sidney along with nearly all contents. Mrs. Cady, an invalid, was in bed when neighbors arrived after sparks from the chimney set the house alight. John Cady had left a kitchen fire and went to the barn, but the flames overwhelmed the structure before help could save it.
