OAS Recommends Sanctions of Cuba

Tyrone Townsite Company Store Head Named

Frank Cislaghi named manager of the new Phelps Dodge Townsite company store at Tyrone near Silver City. The store, part of Tyrone and Pipeline Draw developments, will be completed in December with a post office at the rear. Stearns Rogers workers will not be housed in Tyrone homes or in the old open pit area, W W Little says.

John Lanehart Dies in Texas at 94

John Lanehart 94, a former Silver City resident, died Saturday in Big Spring Texas after an extended illness. He lived with a daughter for five years and is survived by two sons in Silver City eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 pm at the Church of Christ with burial in Barstow Texas.

Roswell Officials Attend New Mexico Municipal League Meet

Roswell councilman Leon Bower and City Manager Richard Cunningham joined about 150 New Mexico municipal officials at the 10th annual Municipal League conference in Roswell. Sessions covered downtown revitalization modernization and tax valuations with officer group conferences. Mayor Gali Harris was elected league president for the upcoming year. In Gallup the New Mexico Press Association announced its 1968 winter convention will be January 19 to 20 at the El Rancho Met Hotel.

Parts of Lost Missile Found

White Sands missile range reports parts of a Pershing missile that crashed in northern Mexico were recovered by Mexican ranchers with White Sands recovery teams. The launch site was Blanding Utah on September 12 and the overflight failure prompted an attempted destruction.

Two Youths Killed On N M Highways

Two weekend traffic deaths reported in New Mexico involve Lawrence Copley 17 of Carlsbad killed when his motorcycle hit a car driven by Frances Durei and John Shaw 22 of Albuquerque who died after his car left a street and overturned. Passenger Hoy Bartley 18 suffered multiple lacerations.
