Five hundred students from 75 Indian tribes and friends participate in BYU’s Indian education program. The national college graduation rate for American Indian students is about four percent, while BYU reports a thirty percent graduation average.

Tom Kime 25 of Silver City was injured in an traffic accident outside Central on August 15. He was transferred to the VA Hospital in Long Beach California after ICU care and major back surgery at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso. He will begin therapy and rehabilitation at the VA Hospital Ward C-1 590 Seventh Street Long Beach California 90822.
AP reports petitions with 928 signatures circulated to recall Mayor Mike Glover and Commissioner Charles Harrell were handed to city clerk Pat Matfield. The clerk’s office states 676 valid signatures are needed for a recall election. A spokesman notes over 50 residents helped collect signatures.
