Journal Cleared Of Libel In Albuquerque Case
A New Mexico district court ruled there was no damages proven in the $60,000 invasion of privacy suit over a June 27 1971 Albuquerque Journal sketch of a Navajo two year old girl. Judge H Vern Payne directed verdict for defendants including the Journal, a local artist and the United Cerebral Palsy Association. The plaintiff Oscar Bitsie alleged the drawing implied cerebral palsy and would bring bad luck, but the court found no evidence of future damages. The sketch originated from a photo taken at the 1970 State Fair and was donated to Cerebral Palsy Association for fundraising note cards. In a separate note, St Louis Cardinals veteran DB Larry Wilson was hospitalized with a rib injury and would miss the upcoming game at Washington.

Pusher Suspect Jailed at Las Cruces
Las Cruces police arrested Anthony M. Ficucielio, 22, a New Jersey State University student from Orange, on charges of possession and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and other drugs. Magistrate Rudy Gonzales set a $20,000 bond as about 18.5 pounds of marijuana, 4,000 Secubarbital capsules, cocaine packets, and $1,700 cash were seized along with a walkie talkie and recording device.
