WASHINGTON AP The Agriculture Department reports cattle prices leveling off with choice grade steers and heifers at Omaha averaging 50.25 per 100 pounds last week, up from the prior week and well above a year ago. Hog prices stay firm at about 59.9 per 100 pounds in the Midwest. Butz warned of some fall price weakness as more cattle move to market, with grain-fed beef expected to hold in the mid 40s per 100 pounds and pork production remaining low this fall and winter.

Plane Search Enters Seventh Day Over Southwest Missing Plane
New Mexico Civil Air Patrol extended its seventh day search for a missing airplane reported between Chandler Arizona and Pueblo Colorado. CAP spokesman Bart Livingston said air operations resumed with Air Force support over eastern mountains from Las Vegas to the Colorado line. Pilot Harold Early 49 of Chandler and passenger Harold Adams 46 of Tempe Arizona were aboard. CAP teams from New Mexico Arizona and Colorado searched the Sangre de Cristo Mountain region.
