Youth Accidentally Shoots Self in Leg Near Lordsburg
Richard Hank Hays aged one year from Little Walnut Road was in good condition at Hillcrest General Hospital Monday after a Sunday noon accident. The Grant County Sheriff's Department reports he bumped a .22 pistol in his lap while riding in a pickup driven by his father Dick Hays at the White Signal turnoff on the Lordsburg highway, causing a gunshot to the upper right leg before being driven to hospital.

Bayard Man Hurt In Dump Truck Accident Sunday
A dump truck driven by Rivey Gillihan 38 of Bayard ran off NM 90 east of Santa Rita five miles Sunday overturning the truck and injuring Gillihan who was listed in good condition at Hillcrest General Hospital Monday. Two passengers were treated as outpatients at Hillcrest along with two others treated for injuries. The 4 p.m. crash was investigated by State Policeman Gene Tow with ambulance help from H and R Service Silver City.

Windshields Smashed In Silver City Sunday
About 10 cars were damaged with smashed windshields by a van dal at around 3 a.m. Sunday. The Adams State College bus windshield was also smashed. Cars were parked on Texas and Arizona Streets between Yankie and Sonora. Police Chief Tommy Ryan says a bar or chain caused the damage and the case remains under investigation.
