Members of District IV of the Auxiliary to the New Mexico Hospital Association will meet at the Holiday Inn De Las Cruces in Las Cruces on Tuesday September 27. District IV includes hospital auxiliaries across the area.
Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its first regular meeting at Mrs. Linda Hwan home with Mrs. Lyone Blair as co-hostess. A salad supper for 14 featured a family program by Carolyn McGarr and Donna Theis. A sack sale aimed to fund a chapter scholarship across Alamogordo Deming Ruidoso Truth or Consequences Silver City and Las Cruces.
Director Jeffy Norwood revealed the area chairmen for the upcoming year. Named are Chase Webb Silver City Mary Dennis Deming Amelia McCalla Hatch Aimee Porter Kingston Hillsboro Minnie Nelson Tor C Dorothy Ingraham Las Cruces and Dorothea Hart El Paso.
Daughters of the American Revolution Jacob Bennett Chapter met at the McCauley ranch on Sept 10 with 18 members present. Guests from Alamagordo Deming and Silver City attended. State Regent Marge Bodwell led the program detailing her Dart 1977 78 resolutions defense and summer scholarship work at Breeden's Foundation Valley Forge.
Robert Taper Rebekah Lodge met in regular session Sept 12 at 7 30 p m with 19 members present Noble Grand Hazel Fraser presiding Officers pro tem were Jessie Ham man Janice Wier and Peggy Maury Charter draped in memory of Aunt Mime Matthews Friendship night planned Sept 26 with Cacutus Rebekahs of Silver City and Deming Rebekahs as guests.
Mrs. Fern Shell represented the Grant County Board of Realtors at the Realtors Association of New Mexico Convention held September 6 to 10 at the Hilton Inn in Albuquerque. Speakers included Harry G. Edstrom and Victor L. Lyon, with legal counsel Wm. DB. North delivering guidance on new laws and regulations to protect buyers. The meeting stressed high professional standards and the future outlook for real estate markets and interest rates.
Valerie Ann Chitwood and Ted Ray Allen wed at 2 p.m. Saturday July 23 in the Church of God California and Market Street Silver City. Officiants were Reverend Murray Allen and Reverend Swartzel. The couple resides near Farmington after a trip to Arizona.
