Body found near Belen. foul play suspected
A father and son digging east of Belen uncovered a decomposed male body and a 38 caliber pistol. Valencia County sheriff says the man, in his late 40s, may have been buried for at least six months in a makeshift cesspool near an abandoned home. The body was sent to the medical examiner in Albuquerque for ID. Investigators continued the case.

Men Plead Guilty in Arizona Alien Smuggling Case
Two Los Angeles men, Eugene M. Mecaz and Rudy Sierra, pleaded guilty in U S District Court to transporting illegal aliens in a case near Douglas Arizona. Four additional counts will be dropped. A large group of aliens including 12 children were found in their vans. Authorities say 46 adults were held on bond as material witnesses and will be released after pleas. Sentencing is set for October 1.
