Terry K. Johnson of Albuquerque and former Western New Mexico University student pleaded guilty to a looting incident and aggravated assault in the Ritch Hall shooting. The district attorney announced the plea as Johnson faced sentencing before Judge Norman Hodges. A campus police officer was wounded in the hours between midnight and 1 am during the incident.

Silver City Council approves funds for master plan project

Fall semester registration at Western New Mexico University will be held Friday and Saturday in the field house. Classes begin Monday. Registration hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Night classes may register from 7 to 9 p.m. at the field house or during regular office hours on Monday. A style show and dance is held this evening at Eckles Hall for freshmen and returning students. Freshmen have been on campus since Tuesday for tests and orientation lectures.
