Mule Team Clears Gila Wilderness Vehicles
Three stranded vehicles in the Gila Wilderness were removed by a five mule team led by Bud Stailey of Cliff. The operation, delayed since July 27, wrapped up Monday at the mouth of Turkey Creek after separate pulls on Saturday and Sunday. The owners, Fred Norton and brothers Robert and Richard Sheid, face Wilderness Act charges. a Las Cruces trial date is pending.

Silver City police arrested two liquor store workers for selling alcohol to minors during Labor Day weekend after a stakeout of two local establishments.
