The National Secretaries Association held its Southwest District Region 1 conference in Albuquerque October 3 to 5 at the Hilton Inn. Manana Chapter members Marge Pruit and Myrtle Powe attended, with officials and delegates from Arizona California Hawaii Nevada Texas and New Mexico. International leaders included Frances Jakles Connie McCauley Dorothy Robinson Beverly Hamby M Ursulle Gallerani Rose Tettenhorst LaVerne Arrowood and Ann Michele. Highlights included dedication of a new addition to the Secretaries Retirement Home at Rio Rancho. Seminars covered Women Pride in Nation and Pride in Secretaryship with Dr Marjorie Chambers Dorothy Sutak CPS and Sally Lifke, plus a film by Dennis Booze Pack your own Chute. LaVerne Arrowood’s Retirement with Dignity speech stood out, CPS certificates were awarded to five recipients, and ERDA’s Duke Nowlin presented a film Energy Going Going Gong followed by Q&A. The weekend closed with a Red Barn Theatre banquet and a three act play Six Rooms River VII.

Mr and Mrs Pascual Ybarra marked their golden anniversary with a September 2 reception at the United Veterans Center in Silver City hosted by family.
