Apodaca Volunteer Picked To Serve On Hospital Board
W A Bill Anderson of Albuquerque was named acting director of the Department of Hospitals and Institutions and board chair Walter Gerrells said he will serve until a permanent director is appointed. Anderson, 37, a campaign volunteer for Gov Jerry Apodaca, previously worked 11 years for Western Union Gas in Arizona and ran a business in Albuquerque. The DHI oversees five institutions including the State Hospital in Las Vegas and about 40 community programs for the mentally ill and mentally retarded. The board expects to confirm the appointment by Friday afternoon.
