New Mexico Tax Directive Sets Uniform 33 1/8 Percent Ratio

The state tax commission issued a directive establishing a uniform ad valorem assessment ratio of 33 1/8 percent for all tangible property in New Mexico for 1969. County assessors must show on tax rolls and notices the property identification, full actual value, and the ratio in dollars and cents. Grant County Assessor Ella Ward supports the ruling but warns it requires additional calculations and billing controls.

Judge Rules Tijerina Be Tried Separately

In Albuquerque Judge Paul Larrazolo ordered Reies Lopez Tijerina tried separately from nine co defendants in the Tierra Amarilla raid case. The ruling followed a four hour conference with prosecutors and defense lawyers. The case involves kidnapping false imprisonment and conspiring to commit a crime in the June 5 1967 Rio Arriba County courthouse raid.

Beatriz Grijalva of Bayard formerly of Grant County died Sunday at Ft. Bayard Hospital. Arrest Youth In Puerto Rico Shooting

A 10 year old youth was taken into custody in Dorado Puerto Rico tied to the shooting of detective Victor M. Caratini in the Dorado Beach Hotel area during a security patrol near Vice President elect Spiro T. Agnew. Caratini was shot twice in the stomach and underwent emergency surgery.

Ohio Schools Out Of Funds And Closing

Ohio reports say three districts will close within two weeks amid financial crises with five more considering cuts. Voter approval of planned levies could avert shutdowns in several districts including Youngstown, Graham, Nelsonville York, Ostego, Hamilton, Coblentz, and Conneaut, while others await December votes to decide.

Two Killed In One Car Wreck In Catron County

Catron County sheriff reports a one car crash three miles north of Aragon left two dead and three others seriously injured. Victims are Richard Qgas 21 of Cliff and Betty Schmock 16 of Reserve. The injured include Pilo Peru 21 of Cliff Richard Guerra 20 of Reserve and Luella Ausha 17 of McNary Arizona. The sedan rolled over after leaving the road around 1 am. Guerra and Ogas were Army members on leave and Ogas died on arrival at Catron County Hospital.

Humphrey Vacation Near Nixon Shifts to Florida Coast

Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey moved his getaway to the U S mainland near President elect Nixon's Biscayne Bay area. He flew into Miami and said he was not ready to discuss future plans or a possible UN ambassador post. Nixon and Humphrey had no planned meeting during the stop.
