At the Albuquerque convention, New Mexico Democrats defeated a floor resolution to endorse reducing marijuana possession penalties. The body approved 31 of 44 resolutions, including lowering the liquor purchase age to 18 and withdrawing U S forces from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Other measures urged youth participation, state revenue spending on welfare and education, environmental protections, and a children's code, while one proposal for nonpartisan judicial elections was rejected. Rep Rudy Baca offered a four year term study for state officials, rejected on a standing vote.
