Grant County veterans were honored on Veterans Day as the Town and Country Garden Club unveiled a Blue Star Memorial Plaque at Gough Park. Hugh Hawkins was named Veteran of the Year by local veterans groups, receiving a certificate and silver cup from Thomas FP. Foy. Hawkins, a former outstanding citizen, served as master of ceremonies and is active in VFW and community projects. The ceremony included color guard, invocations, and performances by the Western New Mexico University band.
