Fraud Indictments Handed Down in Major Insurance Scam
A 105 count federal indictment charges Equity Funding Corp of America executives and 19 others with an eight year fraud. They allegedly created fictitious policies with face value around 430 million and yearly premiums near 8.5 million, selling them to inflate earnings and raise Equity Funding subsidiaries stock value. Nineteen of 22 named in indictments, led by former chairman Stanley Goldman of Beverly Hills.

The Mariner 10 spacecraft is ready to launch from Cape Canaveral on Saturday at 12 40 am EST on a five month mission to Venus and Mercury It is the first spacecraft designed to study two planets and the first to visit Mercury The Atlas Centaur rocket will propel a 9 million payload at 23400 mph The craft will pass Venus at 3300 miles in February and use Venus gravity to steer toward Mercury about 425 miles away on March 24.
