Saturn Pegasus 2 reaches orbit in second Saturn 1 test launch
Pegasus 2 joined the orbit ring from Cape Kennedy as Saturn 1 powered by eight engines sent the booster skyward at dusk. The second stage ignited after two minutes, placing the satellite about 20 to 460 miles high while observers reported clear premidnight views and a 300 foot flame tail.
