Logging Resumes In Forest Beavershead District Notice

The Beaverhead District Ranger announces logging resumes in the Beaverhead area as of May 2. Logging trucks may use State Highways 2 and 59 during daylight hours and possibly weekends. State Highway 59 is under repair with single lane traffic and numerous potholes.

Silver City Extension Club Meets

The Silver City Extension Club held its regular monthly meeting on May 12 at Mrs. Sally Strasser’s home with 14 members present. Norma Keys reported on the bazaar at Gough Park and the treasurer’s report. the club will host tea for the District 4-H meet on July 7.

Extension Club Hosts Farewell Coffee for Lilian Hodges

Members of the Silver City Home Extension Club held a farewell coffee on May 16 at Mrs. Marvin Glenns home to honor Mrs. Lilian Hodges for many years of service. Hodges received a decorative copper plate and stand as a parting gift as she and Mr Hodges plan to move to Ads Oklahoma.

Field High Mass Planned for Saint Rita

The Santa Rita Committee invites the public to a Field High Mass honoring Saint Rita on Sunday May 22 at 6pm at the Santa Rita Shrine Hanover Crossing. A coffee hour will follow at the Manhattan Beer Garden.

Junior Women Club Members Attend GFWC Convention

New Mexico's 65th annual GFWC convention opened April 28 in Farmington at the Inn. Grant County Junior Women’s Club members attended, including Carolyn Quinn, Xandy Church, Linda Pecotte, and Virginia Moore. Speakers included Mrs. Arnold Otis and Mrs. Oscar Sowards. Highlights featured a tour of B Square Ranch and Experimental Farm and a concert by Affiliate Artists, Inc. The Juniors earned second place in district 4 for club report efforts and Pecotte won a first in children’s sewing.
