Under the interamerican conference on the Dominican crisis, Bunker said the United States forces in the Dominican Republic are not there to back either side. He rejected claims the U S troops support the Junta and urged accurate reporting.
Applications will be accepted until June 7 for the post of superintendent of schools at Dora New Mexico. Victor president of the school board announced the vacancy following L C Cozzens resignation to become business manager of Portales schools.
Bayard reports Girl Scouts plan a stamp drawing fundraiser on May 17 for 15 book stamps and a May 22 Dante at White Signal with Rhythm Wranglers. Fly Up ceremonies May 11 at the Lion's Club featured multiple Brownie and Girl Scout troops with named leaders. Aster-Nots Garden Club met May 6 to discuss soil and plantings at Bayard Elementary School and to receive a dahlia tuber gifts.
The Cliff F F A prepares for a two day rodeo on May 29 and 30 with food provided by Pacific Western Land and Cattle Co. Donations include wood for dinners and buckles from Thomas Saddlery for top senior and junior riders. Local organizers are arranging livestock with Hurley Roping Club and others, and improvements have been made to the arena fence and race track.
Servis Press will publish an all color supplement in Monday's paper focused on promoting the school bond issue facing voters on May 45. Several guests added their names to endorsements as the paper received applause for backing the issue and chamber projects. Hugh Hawkins, chamber president, announced next week's meeting will recognize Realtors' Week in Silver City.
The FTC ruled Beatrice Foods Co. must seek a solution after its Chicago based Beatrice acquired five dairy firms including Creameries of America of New Mexico. Beatrice, the third largest dairy, faced charges of violating the anti merger law.
The First Methodist Church in Silver City hosts a 6 p.m. potluck dinner in Fellowship Hall to honor Reverend Kenneth E. Ford his wife and children Michael Nida and Terry as he transfers to a church in Kermit Texas. Ford will lead Sunday service then depart for his new assignment next week.

Eighteen members of the St. Elizabeths Guild of the Church of the Good Shepherd attended a luncheon honoring Mrs Crawford Harvie who will soon move to Albuquerque. Hostesses M F Lime and Joe Jenness led the event with roses and sweet peas on the table.
