The region remains clear through Thursday with a day to day warming trend. A chance of occasional moderate wind tonight and Wednesday accompanies a wind warning over the area. Silver City saw a Tuesday high of 60 and overnight low of 37. Thursday’s expected high is 73 and tonight’s low 37.
Silver City to add sludge plant for soil conditioner
The new municipal sewage plant will process sludge into a peat moss like soil conditioner. Phase One funding adds about 13 thousand dollars to the plant total estimated at 13.674 million. Production priorities target city parks schools, with any surplus sold for municipal use.

Lordsburg Sues Over Tank Collapse Damages
The City of Lordsburg filed a 500000 dollar punitive and exemplary damages suit in Hidalgo County District Court over a 2.5 million gallon water reservoir that collapsed July 31, 1974, four miles west of Lordsburg. A no charge replacement tank by Phelps Dodge Corp is in operation at the site. Defendants include Chicago Bridge & Iron Co, Willian Matotan Associates, Continental Insurance, and Western Surety. City Attorney Sherman says formal response forthcoming.
