New Mexico Faces Threat to Federal Student Loans

College funds at risk as New Mexico may lose the federal guaranteed loan program. Officials met with Lee Hardwick to discuss improving loan collections amid a 26 percent delinquency rate on 13 million dollars in loans. A second meeting is planned for March 30 to consider alternatives.

Nuclear groups warn of terrorist use of nuclear weapons

Washington authorities report 28 threats since 1970 of using nuclear material against cities, with no unauthorized possession found. Since 1969 at least 175 threats or violent acts against nuclear facilities occurred, mostly false phone bomb threats, plus arson attempts and pipe bombs, per NRC and ERDA figures.

Lee Aaron resigns as Santa Fe Penitentiary warden

Santa Fe AP Warden Lee Aaron resigns after less than a year citing a strained relationship with Corrections Secretary Mike Hanrahan and a lack of cooperation from the state personnel office. Deputy Warden Clyde Malley expected to act. decision on permanent replacement to occur within 30 days. Aaron, 50, is from Leavenworth Kansas and had a 30-year federal career including Marion Illinois.

Rockwell Hosts Chiefs of Staff In Hunt Lodge Spending

Rockwell International hosted the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and about 100 military officials at its Tecemut hunting and recreation facilities to discuss defense work. Records show 44 travelers between 1972 and 1976, plus 55 named last year, with costs exceeding 50 thousand dollars for entertaining brass at the Wye Island lodge. A Proxmire aide noted many on the list held Pentagon procurement or R D roles, amid a presidential ban on gratuities and conflicts of interest.

Sister Joaquin Retires From Santa Fe Hospital

Sister Mary Joaquin, administrator of St. Vincent Hospital, resigns after 15 years as the facility transitions from Sisters of Charity ownership to private nonprofit management. A new $17.8 million hospital is under construction southeast of Santa Fe, set to open in July 1977.

Women Seek Charter For First Women's Bank of Denver

A group of nine Denver area feminists filed to charter the First Women's National Bank of Denver. The bank would have 1 million shares split into 500000 stock 300000 surplus and 200000 undivided profits. Organizers include Beverly A. Grall and Barbara Welch Sadler. A national charter is not guaranteed on application.

Staffers Leave Runnels for Albuquerque Advertiser

U S Representative Harold Runnels says two Washington staffers, Richard Hapke and his wife, are leaving next month to join Mare III Communicators in Albuquerque. Hapke has been admin assistant five years. Mrs Hapke was staff secretary. Larry Morgan will become admin assistant and coordinate the 1976 campaign.
