He has led a consumer finance business for seven years and has been in his current role since 1966. His community work includes Rotary United Fund PTA Lions Club Jr. Livestock Sales Committee Chamber of Commerce and Trustee of Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital.

A case of 30 to 40 sticks of dynamite was found by Juan Garcia at the Bayard city garbage dump and turned over to Silver City Police. Mo Snow Closes Roads In New Mexico Strands Motorists
A late winter storm in New Mexico dumped up to 15 inches of snow closing some schools and highways and stranding hundreds of motorists on the plains. Interstate 40 at Clines Corners and Moriarty saw long waits as locals reported rescuers and service stations mobilizing amid blowing snow. At Clines Corners a cafe worker said about 200 people were stranded and food was running low. Moriarty’s high school gym housed about 300 people after motel rooms filled, as officials hoped for a quick freeze thaw. The storm also offered farmers and landowners early signs of spring growth benefits.

Victor Torres Enters Sheriff Race in Grant County
Victor G. Torres, 41, of Santa Rita, announced his candidacy for Grant County Sheriff in the Democratic primary. Rockwell, Former Resident, Dies in California
Lewis William Rockwell of Silver City died Sunday in a Fullerton hospital at 58. A native of Cisco Texas, he was a civil engineer with the Soft Conservation Service in the 1940s and later taught at a junior college in Fullerton. Survived by widow Esther, two sons, a foster son, a sister and brother, his remains go to Silver City for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday funeral at Curtis Mortuary with Masonic graveside rites.
