Pearl Buck, Nobel and Pulitzer prize winning author of The Good Earth, died at home in Danby, Vermont, at age 80. Born June 26, 1892, in West Virginia, she grew up in China and later worked as a Presbyterian missionary there from 1914 to 1935. She suffered health problems including pleurisy and gall bladder surgery in recent years. funeral services will be private and held out of Vermont.
