Education Funds Vary Widely in New Mexico School Budgets

Figures from eight percent budget hearings show a mixed picture. Oll-rich Sea County will give returning teachers a $996 raise, while Las Cruces can manage only $10 per teacher. Administrative analyst Carl Whittemore said Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Espanola face the most critical financial problems.

Governor Nomination Hopeful Seeks Funds To Meet Filing Deadline

Filberto Jaramillo an Albuquerque retiree and one of eight Democratic governor candidates says he aims to raise 500 to 600 dollars to cover the 1050 filing fee due by 5 pm Tuesday to appear on the August 27 primary ballot. He has sent letters to about 15 county chairmen seeking donations with no replies yet.

Johnson nominates Fortas to Supreme Court as Warren retires

Remains of Saint Peter Identified by Vatican

Vatican City AP Pope Paul VI announced that the Vatican has conclusively identified mortal remains found under St Peter's Basilica as those of the Apostle Peter. The relics were located in 1950 under the Altar of Confession after previous uncertainty and disputed bones.
