Figures from eight percent budget hearings show a mixed picture. Oll-rich Sea County will give returning teachers a $996 raise, while Las Cruces can manage only $10 per teacher. Administrative analyst Carl Whittemore said Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Espanola face the most critical financial problems.
Notice details applications filed on May 27 1968 by John A McKuen Glenwood New Merxley to change place of use and diversion of surface water from the San Francisco River and wells GSP-39 and GSI-39 along with related land tracts in Township 10 and 16 South Range 20 West Grant County. Filberto Jaramillo an Albuquerque retiree and one of eight Democratic governor candidates says he aims to raise 500 to 600 dollars to cover the 1050 filing fee due by 5 pm Tuesday to appear on the August 27 primary ballot. He has sent letters to about 15 county chairmen seeking donations with no replies yet.

Vatican City AP Pope Paul VI announced that the Vatican has conclusively identified mortal remains found under St Peter's Basilica as those of the Apostle Peter. The relics were located in 1950 under the Altar of Confession after previous uncertainty and disputed bones.
Mrs. Addie Athey of Silver City announces her bid for Grant County Clerk as a Democrat, subject to the August 27 primary. Athey has lived in Silver City 19 years, worked as a local businessbookkeeper, and has not held public office before.
George 8. Barela a lifelong Democrat and incumbent under sheriff announces his bid for sheriff subject to the August 27 primary. He vows to continue progressive modern law enforcement methods and says the public will benefit from this administration.
U L Conner of Silver City New Mexico announces his bid for magistrate division one. He has eight years as Justice of the Peace precinct 3 and Silver City lawn magistrate. He pledges ongoing public service with honesty and efficiency.
Pope Paul hints at the discovery of relics possibly belonging to St Peter. He acknowledges uncertainty over the scientific tests used to identify the bones and recalls the tradition that Peter spent his final years in Rome and died in 64 or 65.
