Scientists wait for Navy rescuers in minisub tragedy
Two scientists trapped in a midget research-submarine died after choosing to await Navy divers rather than attempting a dangerous free ascent. Clayton Link and Albert Stover, survivors Archi Menzies and Robert Meek said they planned to wait for help after the 31 hour entrapment on the scuttled World War II destroyer near Key West. Link, son of Edwin Link, and Stover perished as the sub was freed by a television guided grappling hook.
