Citywide youth choir auditions announced for summer concerts
The Second auditions for a city wide youth choir are set for Wednesday Thursday and Sunday with sessions from 6 to 7 30 p m and 4 40 to 6 p m at Sixth Street Baptist Church at Sixth Street and Pinos Alto s. Ages 14 to 23 may audition to sing or play an instrument. Rehearsals will occur weekly, possibly Sundays, with special sessions as needed. About ten August concerts are planned across southwestern New Mexico and eastern Arizona. Director is Martin Kennedy ds youth director at Sixth Street Baptist Church and a Wayland Baptist College music major from Plainview Texas. Contact 538 3558 for details.

Freddie Byrd, longtime assistant at Cobre High, is chosen to succeed Clinton Hill as Indians head coach after Hill resigns to teach and coach at Aztec High School next fall.
