Son Of Silver City Family Killed In Viet Nam Action
A Silver City family learns their son Corp Danny L Rutherford U S M C 21 was killed in Vietnam. He died after mine fragment injuries and treatment at a hospital. Rutherford served two years on the U S Bon Homme Richard then returned to Vietnam in January 1967 with the First Marine Division Second Battalion. He hoped to be discharged in April 1967. He had spent weeks recovering from heat exhaustion prior to death. His father Lewis R Rutherford Jr stated funeral arrangements would be made with Maj C W Dilworth U S M C of El Paso.

LIMBUNG Wermany AP reports a holiday bus carrying more than 40 Belgian children aged 10 to 11 crashed off a bridge on the Frankfurt Cologne autobahn near Idstein. Thirty children were killed and twelve were seriously injured. The driver also died and all survivors were seriously hurt.
