In Kansas City at the Republican National Convention Mrs. McKinney of Clovis, a Reagan supporter, argues Reagan can fix debt and cut welfare while winning New Mexico's conservative East Side. Agnes C. Menard passed away at her Hurley home Friday after an extended illness. A Silver City native she lived most of her life here. Funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel with interment Memory Lane Cemetery.
A group of American teenagers including Tim Shriver and relatives of notable figures joined local and religious leaders in Rabinal to aid earthquake relief. They lived among residents, ate local food, dressed in Guatemalan clothes, and slept in tents as part of reconstruction efforts begun June 30 and continuing after the disaster that killed about 23 000 and injured 75 000 people.
In New York, Micheline Lerner, ex wife of lyricist Alan J. Lerner, won a court order to seize at least 64 000 of his property to cover back alimony and support. A stay was issued pending a hearing on July 27. Lerner, now in London, was unavailable for comment.
